Research Interests

Chandra research interest includes larval settlement and metamorphosis, climate change and  biofouling. He is using 'omics’ technologies (proteomics and transcriptomics) to identify genes/proteins/molecular pathways in barnacles, polychaetes and oysters. His current research focused on understanding the proteomic patterns of Red Sea Barnacles larvae. He is also examining the reproductive patterns in polychaete Neanthes. His collaborative research is focused on the effect of ocean acidification in oyster larvae. While little is known about these species in Red Sea Arabian Peninsula and South China Sea (Hong Kong coast), his research helps elucidate the adaptation strategy of these species to extreme marine environment. His cross-disciplinary nature of research can serve as model for better understanding the effect of climate change on marine invertebrates.
